The Chaketma Phosphate Project

The Chaketma Phosphate Project is a world-class mineral deposit, located 210km south-west of Tunis by road and just 35km from rail access which connects to the Port of Goulette / Rades for direct access to export markets.

The Chaketma Exploration Permit was granted in February 2010 (JORT No 33 22/02/2016) and is 100% owned by Chaketma Phosphate SA (‘CPSA’), a joint venture project company jointly owned by Tunisia Mining Services (‘TMS’) and Celamin (Phosco Limited).

In late 2017, CPSA applied to convert the Chaketma Exploration Permit to a mining concession and recently CPSA has also applied for a new Exploration Permit.

Tunisia Mining Services and Medphos’s plans include the sustainable development of the Chaketma Phosphate project ensuring that:

  • Joint venture disputes are effectively resolved, and mechanisms are established to prevent future occurrences.

  • Adherence to all Tunisian laws is ensured.

  • Development and commercial production methods are designed to benefit all stakeholders, including the Government, shareholders, and local communities.

  • The Project serves as a proud symbol of local development, led by Tunisian management and expertise.
